February Tarot * eight ball * Breakthrough

Being that this is an eight year of balance, at least when it comes to the Tarot, thought it’d be as good as time as any to explore what the eight ball is all about and what it might have to say about how we live this life of ours. And despite its renown for pool sharks and hustlers, and those of shady pasts and no uncertain reputation, the billiards table does not come without its requisite set of rules and wisdoms. The astute money baller preaches patience and might share that you take the good with the bad in this life and of this lot, and as it may be somewhat symbolic of life’s balance. One may also glean that to stay out from behind the eight ball is a balancing act between aggression and playing it safe ‘til you think you can run the table. It’s a game of strategy. Refrain from getting rid of easy balls before their time, wait for the riffraff to get off the table and out of the way, and reevaluate and revise after every shot, especially if you get out of line. Walk around the table, walk around the block. Deal with “problem” peoples first or as early as possible. Don’t bump into or disturb peoples unless necessary (let sleeping dogs lie). Pocket balls in order to clear the way for other balls, and if you decide to run out, don’t miss. Consider the percentages, as weaving thru traffic is risky biz and more oft than not ends runs. Rather move balls into position and real eyes that a cue ball in hand is many times worth two in the pocket. And if you think you’ve got it made, remember to keep your feet on the floor and don’t be afraid to use the bridge, and recall that if the eight ball falls early or the other shoe drops, it’s game over. If you lose your advantage or the upper hand, recall that we make our luck. If you feel stuck or hopeless and think there is no way out of a really bad spot or unfavorable or poor strategic position, wait your turn, and recall that whether your luck is good or bad, that life is for living. They’re called crazy eights for a reason. No risks, no rewards.

Vigilance is required and placement is at a premium. Indecision breeds misfortune if not missed fortunes. Even worse, some may scry that idle (billiard) balls are symbolic of deceitful folk in the guise of friends. The answer may be as simple as to read thru the transparent window at the bottom of the magic 8 ball. It is certain, it is decidedly so, without a doubt, yes definitely, you may rely on it, as I see it yes, most likely, outlook good, yes, signs point to yes, reply hazy try again, ask again later, better not tell you now, cannot predict now, concentrate and ask again, don’t count on it, my reply is no, my sources say no, outlook not so good, very doubtful. Save room for yes.

Breakthrough * seven of worlds * Voyager Tarot

Break thru blocks that prevent you from achieving your goals and aspirations. Get the peoples, the balls, friends and family, out of the way, as necessary and in order to free up your talents and (unshared) resources. A breakthrough is not only a liberation but a purification, a cleaning out. Shed the weight of psychological and emo resistance by expunging the fear blocks that have kept you tight, rigid and on the defensive. In exercising your strength, you work out the lethargies caused by inertia. Break thrus require power. Be clear with your vision and come into your power with beauty and grace. Get out of the house and see patterns inherent to you. Act with will and determination. Do not be denied. Work hard with all your body, heart and soul. Manage your impatience and intemperateness. Break thru difficulties, obstructions, blocks, hang ups and hanger ons. Solve the problem. Break up the cluster of balls to move things forward. It’s high time, now or never time. Go to where the action is. Destroy the olde, revolt, cleanse and run the table. Dare to be noticed and exposed, dare to succeed. Lead the way, start the fire. Sink the first ball and the last ball. Choose sides, and whether striped or solid, recall that life is not a spectator sport. Jump in, rack ‘em up and put yourself in the mix and in the middle of things.

"a ship is safe in harbor, but that's not what it's built for.... twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines, sail away from the safe harbor, catch the trade winds in your sails, explore, dream, discover." Mark Twain.
